Great question! Navigating insurance can sincerely feel overwhelming. Here are some questions you will want to ask your insurance representative:"
Is Excursion Counseling or Kimberly Kepner in-network with my plan?
If not, does my plan include “out-of-network” coverage for mental health?
What is my copay or co-insurance for outpatient mental health therapy?
Do I have a deductible? If yes, how much of it have I met?
Are telehealth sessions covered the same as in-person sessions? (This varies greatly among insurance companies)
How much will I be reimbursed if I provide a superbill*? (Useful if you are out-of-network)
*A superbill is a detailed receipt provided by a therapist or other healthcare provider that includes the service codes, dates of service, the provider’s credentials, and charges. Clients can submit it to their insurance company for reimbursement if the provider is out-of-network.

The answer to this is different for everyone, depending on what you need and want out of your therapy experience. Together we will develop a treatment plan that encompasses your desired goals.
Our first session together will include a thorough assessment that will ensure you and the therapist are able to establish a positive rapport. I believe that for therapy to be effective, it is an important component that the therapist and client feel a mutual connection.
All sessions are currently virtual and last up to 55 minutes. -

You do not have to be unhappy to go to therapy! It's 2025-can we let go of the notion that there has to be something wrong with someone who wants to go to therapy?!
Therapy only works if you do :)
You may feel anxious about starting therapy, and that's okay! I highly recommend "shopping around" for a therapist who YOU feel can meet your needs. A good therapist knows and accepts the fact that we are not a one size fits all. I promise, our feelings will not be hurt if it is decided we're not a good match for you.
Your therapist may decide that he or she is unable to meet your needs in an ethical way. It can be harmful for a therapist to continue working with a client that is outside of their competency level and expertise.

To ensure we can accommodate all our clients effectively, we require at least 24 hours' notice for any cancellations or rescheduling of appointments. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the scheduled session will incur a fee of $75, not billable by insurance. The same fee applies to no-shows.
