Walk and Talk Therapy

Take your therapy experience to a new level

What happens during walk and talk therapy?

  • We meet in a park, on a trail, or another agreed-upon outdoor space.

  • Instead of sitting across from each other, we walk side-by-side and talk as we go.

  • The session covers the same kinds of issues as a regular therapy session—anxiety, stress, relationships, trauma, etc.—but the environment can feel more relaxed and less intense.

Things to consider

  • Privacy: Since you're outside, there's a chance you might encounter other people. Therapists usually choose quieter spots to minimize this.

  • Weather: Sessions might be rescheduled or moved indoors if the weather’s bad.

  • Accessibility: It may not be a good fit for people with mobility challenges unless there's a suitable path or plan in place.

Benefits

  • Less intimidating: Some people feel more comfortable opening up when they’re not in a formal office, especially when not making direct eye contact.

  • Movement helps: Physical activity can improve mood, reduce anxiety, and even help process emotions more effectively.

  • Connection to nature: Being outside can be grounding and soothing, especially for people who feel stuck or overwhelmed.

Walk and talk therapy is a form of psychotherapy that takes place outdoors while walking, rather than in a traditional office setting. It combines the benefits of physical movement, nature, and therapeutic conversation. *You must sign an additional waiver before participating in walk and talk therapy*
